Tell us about yourself
I was born in New Hampshire, a first-generation American son of Vietnamese immigrants who were both engineers at the time. The most memorable part of my life was serving in the U.S. Navy from 2008 to 2014. The military ethos I absorbed during my service informs my approach to work and life: I believe in putting the team before myself and doing the right thing by others, even if it isn't always in my best interest at the moment.
What do you enjoy most about being a dentist?
I feel blessed that with every patient I interact with, I have the opportunity to make a direct impact in someone's life, whether through my advice, guidance, and reassurance or via a procedure I do that day. I am amazed how much trust patients put in my hands, and I never take it for granted.
What do you like to do
outside of work?
I love spending quality time outside with my toddler son. He's the best at reminding me how to enjoy life in the moment.
What motivated you to become a dentist?
While on summer break from college, I was shadowing at a hospital dental department near my home, to explore different career paths in healthcare. I remember watching one of the dental residents prepare to extract a patient's wisdom tooth. I walked away for a few minutes to chat with an assistant in the sterilization area, assuming the procedure would take a long time, but when I came back the doctor was finished and the patient was already smiling like nothing happened. I remember thinking, "Wow, this dentist is so skillful in making what I thought was a barbaric procedure look so easy. I want to be able to that one day!" The meaningful impact and humility displayed by that one dental resident were really the crux of my career decision.
What is a fun fact
about yourself?
I wear a 1972 penny on my name tag at work, because this is my unit nametag from my time serving as a Navy dentist on the aircraft carrier USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN72). The penny displays the face of the ship's namesake, President Abraham Lincoln, and the year 1972 symbolizes the ship's hull classification number "CVN72."

Hands down the best dental clinic I’ve been to! Dr. Nguyen is super attentive and gentle during treatment. The office is clean and uses advanced dental technology and they even have TV screens on the ceiling playing Netflix so you can watch shows while getting a filling! Already looking forward to my next appointment!
