Dr. Krista McKenzie

Dr. McKenzie has been a practicing dentist for 14 years, and works out of our Dental365 Park Slope and TriBeCa, NY locations.

Tell us about yourself

I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from New York University College of Dentistry in 2009. While at NYU, I was selected to serve as an Assistant Clinical Teacher, which deepened my passion for education and dentistry. Having an avid interest in cosmetic dentistry motivated me to complete the Advanced Aesthetics Program at NYU. Currently, I am an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and am certified as an Invisalign Provider. My clinical approach emphasizes creating healthy, functional smiles with a focus on patient comfort and satisfaction.

What do you enjoy most about being a dentist?

Dentistry allows me to enjoy and express the best parts of who I am every day. It lets me channel my creativity into shaping, enhancing, and maintaining healthy, beautiful smiles. It also allows me to connect with patients on a personal level, ensuring they feel valued and cared for. My scientific side thrives as I strive to solve problems and apply evidence-based practices and technology. Additionally, the physical demands of the profession encourage me to be active and stay fit. Although it's challenging, I truly love everything about being a dentist.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Time outside of work is mostly spent with family and friends, however my most favorite thing to do outside of work is to quietly explore and rediscover New York. The cultural diversity, music, art and culinary experiences are unending, ever-changing and pervasive on every corner. Whether it’s a leisurely stroll or a scenic drive, I always find joy in discovering something new.

What motivated you to become a dentist?

My mother, a nurse, frequently asked me what kind of doctor I wanted to be. As a child, I was always impressed by healthcare professionals and their commitment to improving people's lives. They were always so calm, poised, pleasant and very well dressed. My childhood dentist, like other doctors and nurses that I admired, was kind, successful and polished. However there was an undeniable level of excitement and sophistication to all the instruments of a dental office that set dentistry apart for me. I'm so grateful and thrilled that a career choice made at the age of 12 has turned out to be even more fitting, purposeful, and fulfilling than I could have ever imagined.

What is a fun fact
about yourself?

Sometimes, I paint.
